Textile is a carrier of information. It’s like a computer program. It’s a language. It holds a lot of culture.

“Hello and Welcome to The Blue Moon Experience!! I am Tina Newton (aka the depraveDyer). I have been making yarn, dyeing yarn and fibers for all of us to create with in that crafty way we do for 20 years! I am obsessed with all things color and fiber and love nothing more than sharing my passion and knowledge with other makers. The joy and empowerment that comes when we expand those creative boundaries we all have is a never ending expansive journey which spreads the more we share. The Blue Moon Experience allows me to do this in a more encompassing way than my little dye barn in the hills of Scappoose, Oregon. I hope you’ll join me as we not only explore and expand our creative horizons in color and fiber but also look at all the aspects of an industry that supports our creativity.

When we have a deeper understanding and appreciation for the tools of our craft we are more successful in our making which in turn nourishes our self-esteem empowering us to create like we have never created before.”

“The craving for color is a natural necessity just as for water and fire. Color is a raw material indispensable to life. At every era of his existence and his history, the human being has associated colour with his joys, his actions and his pleasures.” -Fernand Leger, “On Monumentality and Color”, 1943
